I’m taking a break from the internet.
I crave information, but the internet is full of garbage. Lately I have become conscious of my tendency to read stuff that I don’t even care about. I have diluted my sense of wonder and desire for knowledge with tabloid articles on stupid stories and meaningless information.
By no longer visiting sites like Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, and Hacker News, I hope to rebalance my life offline. This doesn’t mean I won’t use the internet, but it’s my goal to minimize my use of it while maximizing the content I take in.
What will I do with my newfound free time? I’m not sure. Maybe I’ll watch more movies, read some books I’ve been wanting to finish, or play some video games. All of these things might also be considered wastes of time, but this is about balance.
I don’t know how long this will last, but it will be interesting to see how this change affects me.
